Who is covered for an eye exam through the BC care card?
- People 18 years and under.
- People 65 and over are partially covered through BC care card.
Medically required eye examinations continue to be a benefit for all age groups once a year or once every two years depending on the medical condition.
A medical condition may include one of the following:

Ocular diseases and trauma

Systemic diseases associated with significant ocular risk – eg. diabetes

Medications associated with significant ocular risk

Glaucoma

Cataract
-
Retinal diseases, Macular degeneration, Retinal detachment

Corneal diseases, Keratoconus, Corneal dystrophy
